Clover Canyon: Our Shoe-Crush of the Moment

My sudden love for shoes, and specifically designer shoes, is very new.

You might be surprised to know that A LOT of things are relatively new to my spectrum of things I find beautiful. Up until 2010 I was still an engineer, working in places and with people that were very isolated from the arts and beauty. I could not care any less for jewelry. Yes. JEWELRY! My bread and butter in artistic expression!  It took a complete shift in perspective to see something (jewelry that is), in a completely different light, and fall in love with it. Suddenly and completely.

The same is true with shoes. I only recently began paying attention to the incredible detail, quality, ingenuity, creativity and composition that goes into creating a unique pair of designer shoes. I see them now with as much admiration as a beautiful painting, a piece of sculpture, incredible architecture or a lovely landscape.

One of my most recent discoveries is CLOVER CANYON. A Los Angeles-based design house that I saw for the first time during last years’ NY Fashion Week (go ahead, check out their website or google them!). When I saw their runway show, it felt like finding VeruDesigns long-lost BIG (and BEAUTIFUL!) sister in the apparel fashion design world.

To me they are en explosion of LIFE!

A completely fearless yet timeless design style that evoques a wordily sense of fashion. You can see the aliveness of Africa, the wisdom of Asia, the hidden secrets of America. You can sense the human spirit in their custom designed (and in-house made) patterns and fabrics, while keeping a contemporary, simple and very feminine cut. But that is just the beginning. When I saw their accessories and SHOES! Oh my! Particularly their spring and summer collections, beyond fabulous! Statement pieces. Not sure how else to describe them. I got particularly obsessed with their 2015 Spring Collection, which brings us to today’s reveal.

Making tiny “tribute designer shoe” earrings is currently my favorite thing to do, and I promise, the next best thing to actually owning any of these amazing designer shoes. How do I know that? Well, because I experienced it myself 😉

At the height of my excitement I decided to create a “tiny tribute earring” inspired by one of their sandals. But once I chose the CLOVER CANYON shoe design that I was going to use as inspiration, a strange thing happened. I not only created the inspired earrings (by looking at as many pictures I could find online), but I REALLY fell in love with the shoes themselves.  By the time I finished the earrings I decided I needed to get myself a pair.

And voila! I did 😉

My beautiful CLOVER CANYON “Natures Divide Strap Heel Sandals” aren’t only as colorful and fun as they look, but let me tell you… they are the comfiest pair of chunky heels I’ve ever owned! They feel almost feel like I’m walking on clouds. I love them!

And the earrings?

Well, let me tell you something. Considering that I created the earrings based only on a handful of pictures, I was THRILLED with how accurate they turned out. You’re going to have to watch the 1-minute video below to know what I mean 🙂
